The Kazakhs of Mongolia train their eagles to hunt for rabbits and foxes. Once a year, hunters from all over Bayan-Olgii province of Mongolia gather to celebrate this traditional skill and compete against each other challenges that show off the abilities of both birds and their trainers. Prizes are awarded for the fastest eagle, the best traditional Kazakh dress, and more. Various folklore performances are given during the festival in Mongolia. We take you to participate in this regional festival and also to visit with Kazakh families of Mongolia, join the hunters on hunting trips, and see different sights in Bayan Olgii province, home of the Kazakh minority in Mongolia .

Itinerary
DAY 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

Arrival in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to hotel in the city centre. After lunch, we will start the city tour including Gandan Monastery, Chinggis Khaan square and surroundings including Parliament House, National Opera Theatre, Cultural Palace and House of City Council. Then we will drive to Zaisan Hill, which provides wide view of the Ulaanbaatar then we will visit Museum of National history with an excellent exhibitions such as Stone and Bronze Age, Turkic and Mongol Empire, rise of Buddhism and communist regime. Overnight and relax in the hotel.

DAY 2: Fly to Khovd province

Transfer to airport and flight to Khovd, take city tour with visit to the provincial museum. Departure to tsenkher Agui caves. Khoit (Khoid) Tsenkheriin cave, the longest cave of the Mongol Altai mountain chain. The cave is formed in the limestone of the Proterozoic period. This cave is located 25 kilometers southwest of Mankhan sum Khovd province, at 47°20'50.5" N and  91°57'24.1" E,  along the Khoit Tsenkher River.Khoit Tsenkheriin cavehas two branches. The main passage is 130m and 90m.

DAY 3: Drive to Bayan Ulgii via Tsambagarav mountain

Departure to Mt. Tsambagarav(4202m), its name means "sacred white" as is covered in snow year round, located at the edge of Khovd province and Bayan ulgii province. Visit a Kazakh nomad family and experience the traditional lifestyle of the kazakh Mongolians. One of the unique traditions of the kazakh people is hunting with eagles. . We will introduce you to the methods of catching and training Golden Eagles for hunting. Further visit lake Tolbo. Overnight at the local hotel.

DAY 4: Bayan Ulgii-Golden Eagle

Today we attend the Eagle Festival. For the first day of the festival, we will see the competition for the best Kazakh costume, horse racing and archery. In the evening we will see a Kazak cultural performance in the local theatre. Overnight at the local hotel

DAY 5: Bayan Ulgii-Golden Eagle

Today we have another chance to witness the competitions and events of the Eagle festival. We will be able to see a demonstration from the eagles and their hunters, a camel race and lively competition of Kukhbar. Khukbar is essentially a fighting match on horseback where two riders have to fight over a goat skin each trying to claim possession of it. After enjoying the festivities we return to hotel for dinner.

DAY 6: Drive to Ulaangom

Departure to Ulaangom, Uvs province, via Achit Lake and Uureg Lake.  Achit Nuur is on the border of Uvs and Bayan-Olgii aimags, and is an easy detour be-tween Ulaangom and Olgii. It offers stunning sunsets and sunrises and good fishing.
The lake is home to flocks of geese, eagles and other birdlife. One definite draw-back is the absolute plethora of mosquitoes during the summer. Overnight at the local hotel.

DAY 7: Drive to Uvs Lake

Visit Ulaangom town and excursion to Uvs Lake, located 28 km north-east of Ulaangom town, it is the largest lake of Mongolia 80 km wide and 80 km long. Large numbers of gulls and migratory birds live at Uvs lake in summer.  In afternoon, visit and interview the Shaman of Khoton ethnic group. Overnight at the local hotel.

DAY 8: Drive back to Ulaanbaatar

Flight back to Ulaanbaatar and relax in hotel
